THE HILLARY ENIGMA
By Alan Caruba
Does it strike anyone as strange that the only candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination to be the next President of the United States is the wife of a former President? There is no historic precedent for this,
Like most Americans, I first took notice of her when Bill began his campaign to become President. I recall being struck by the fact that in 1969 as a student at Wellesley College, her 92-page senior thesis was devoted to the community organizer, Saul Alinsky’s book.
The title of the thesis was “There is Only the Fight…”: An Analysis of the Alinski Model.” She would later (and understandably) request Wellesley to deny access to it.
Alinksy was a Communist. His twelve rules for radicals, unlike the Ten Commandments, are devoid of a moral message.
Instead, the message is: “This is how you can win.”
Meanwhile, Hillary would do well to review Rule 7 of the old social-destabilizer’s rules, for ruling as an ultra-left queen or king: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”
Mrs. Clinton was already old news when she announced her candidacy; and it’s becoming older with every passing day -- as she fails to take questions from the media, and even participates in totally staged events in order to look like “one of the people.”
In fact, Hillary & Bill are not one of the people. They, like the Bushes, are political royalty. They have both been around a very long time.
And as long as they’ve been on the political scene, Hillary has proved one reality decisively: Other than being farther to the Left than Bill Clinton (Hillary was a long-ago follower of Saul Alinsky), she is a woman whose “achievements” in life have largely been the result of having married Bill Clinton.
Consider that there is no evidence that -- when she was a Senator representing the state of New York -- there was a single Senate bill that she introduced, or that is credited to her
And moving on to a more recent memorable moment in U.S. political history, there was her much-publicized bid to be the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in 2008.
But drats, along came Barack Hussein Obama, and primary voters found a new savior -- the second coming if one were to go by the way the mainstream media hyped the Obama candidacy.
The candidate of “hope & change” was the easy victor – later to be mocked as “the president of hope & NO change!”
And one of the first initiatives of the new president was to ask Hillary Clinton to become his Secretary of State.
Not surprisingly, Hillary Clinton’s achievements as Secretary of State were a mirror image of her years in the Senate -- nothing of any significance transpired, with no major treaties, no major anything, except for, uhm, her Benghazi dereliction of duty on September 11, 2012.
And the recent congressional ‘snoozeathon’ on the the scandal, revealed a clear failure of judgment & duty – by Mrs. Clinton -- about which she had previously lied.
So the questions remains: (1) Who is Hillary Rodham Clinton? (2) What are her fundamental principles beyond a near primal lust for political power? (3) And what about Hillary’s obsession with filling up the Clintons’ complex network of private and foundation bank accounts with ample cold cash --- lots of it, while Mrs. Clinton continued to utter such nonsense as, Hillary & Bill were “dead broke” when they left office?
And what are we to make of her deletion of thousands of emails, on her illegal private server, when she was Secretary of State -- and her assertion that the messages, which she deleted, were of no importance (just recipes, yoga instructions and, oh, just a couple of thousand e-mails exchanged with Sid Blumenthal)?
The server “transgression” becomes even more important as evidence builds that foreign governments (e.g., China & Russia) hacked Hillary’s private email server and walked away with access to classified information about top-secret policies affecting them, and even American allies.
Rule #1 -- of America’s very first community organizer (and mentor to Barack Obama), Marxist agitator Saul Alinski -- is:“Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have. Power is derived from two main sources—money and people.”
We are told that Hillary has amassed a humongous war chest of cold, corrupt cash -- to wage her campaign to become America’s first woman President and Queen in 2016.
However, you cannot buy trust; and now most current presidential polls indicate that trust in the Democrat Party’s “Anointed One” has left the station, and is NOT coming back.
Hillary Clinton may still actually win the Democratic Party’s 2016 nomination.
But it just as likely that she will lose the election – as a result of her having been thrown in prison, or more likely because of the distrust of independent voters, disaffected Democrats, and of course Republicans.
In fact, we have reached a point where Hillary Clinton’s political capabilities have grown tired and out-of-date (if she ever had any).
As far as the millennials in Voting Land are concerned (contemporizing a celebrated utterance from the famous Hans Christian Anderson tale): “The Empress Has No Pant Suits!”
After all, these are not the 1990s. A whole generation has been born since Bill Clinton was President.
And like Hillary, the Democratic Party has grown tired too.
In fact, except for Larry David, er, Bernie Sanders, there really is not another credible Democrat Governor or Senator available who could emerge to represent the Party (except perhaps for Mr. Malapropism, Joe Biden, if decides to enter the race)?
Really. How devoid of any real leadership has the Democratic Party been saddled with in 2015, if the only candidate they can offer is a former First Lady – one whose only claim to fame has always been that she is married to America’s first black President, William Jefferson Clinton
I suggest that Hillary ceases to be an enigma if you just think of the Wellesley student who thought the best topic for her senior thesis was a book by a dedicated Communist, Saul Alinsky!
